"It is a grim struggle of winning supremacy over oneself." The phrase we repeatedly recite during our plebehood days to internalize that everything we face inside the academy as cadets are only challenges to ourselves that would develop us into better person. I am PCDT RAMQUIN DEL ROSARIO ALVIAR, and I chose the less traveled road. I was on SHS when I applied for the PNPACAT Application last 2018. My goal was to be in service of people since I grew fond of the community as I grew up. That goal slowly came to a realization when I was accepted to take the academy's admission test. A series of exams followed through quickly when I passed the written exam. Every test conducted for us was a challenge to our dreams if we could reach the academy's maroon and gold gate; fortunately, I became one of those applicants who earned that dream. Then, it began, after we took oath as cadets of the PNPA, the grim struggles somewhat rained upon us that there were no thoughts that would go through our minds anymore because of rigid activities we had to perform to slowly mold us into refined individuals.

Hours and days passed, and I adjusted to the academy's environment, there was no doubt about the difficulties of such travel across that road, yet, everyone rose, just like what happened to me when I slowly became an upperclassman. Supervision is not also easy, and maybe sometimes we even thought that it was more complicated than just being supervised.

I can confidently say that I played my role as a strict upper class to the slightest error my underclass would make since we have to notice every mistake we can see to avoid those mistakes from repeating, knowing that as a public safety officer, decisions stand as a foundation of our work, one mistake and lives may be lost.

Finally, I reached the time when a shoulder board with four lines and an insignia was put on my shoulders as the Cadet Corps Regimental Academic Chancellor. It was both an honor and privilege to hold such a position since it taught me many things not only as a cadet but also as a leader.

Now, there are only a few days left on our calendars before me and my classmates the members of the MASIDTALAK CLASS OF 2023 to form the long maroon line and throw our shaku in the air as we celebrate our commencement exercises.

m      There is only one thing on my mind right now: that grim struggle is still not yet finished, and it was not only for our cadetship but for our whole lives and that road less traveled that they say never actually ends.

This chapter of my life would have never been started without my family, who inspired me every day, my upperclassmen who guided me to do the right thing, my classmates, who helped me survive, and my underclassmen, who supported me and reminded me to live honorably. The cadetship is just a short journey in our life that passes by, spent for only four years, that is the turning point for a lifetime into the world of public service and selflessness.

Nonetheless, it is also the most challenging yet memorable phase of our lives, where we first meet people from different origins, ages, and beliefs. Some may turn into bad memories, but most go to unforgettable ones. May it came from our upperclass, classmate, or underclass what is essential is the bond that was built, the respect that was earned, and the brotherhood that was developed.

Thank you to all who have been part of my cadetship. Let's all meet at the crossroads.

To God be all the Glory!
