Updated: Feb 13, 2023

The Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) had gone to extremes since its creation on August 26, 1977, by the enactment of Presidential Decree 1184. From then on, the Academic Charter was provided by the legislation of PD1780 elevating its status into a state university and as the premier educational institution of the country's national police force. From its four decades of existence, the academy has produced competent, efficient, and honest officers of the tri-bureau guided by the academy's academic philosophy: The PNPA is committed to developing cadets into qualified public safety officers with management and leadership qualities, sound moral character, and personality befitting that of a professional "public safety officer with a heart" based on strong democratic ideals and processes with respect for authority and human rights and directed towards community leadership.

PNPA furnishes cadets outstanding and extraordinary challenges not found simply in a typical college curriculum. A cadet can choose any professional path and decide to lay the groundwork for future leadership and a lifetime of self-assurance, making PNPA a fertile breeding ground for the future nation's leaders.

This institution hails only those chosen few who took the road less traveled and among the chosen few, the best and the brightest remain. Those who remain are called the cream of the crop, in which they are molded and transformed. Starting on their way of living from carefree civilian to regimented one. From loose to strategic way of thinking and decision making guided by its core values of Justice, Integrity, and Service.

PNPA is known as the Center for Academic Excellence by way of cadets will be able to perform, achieve, and excel in the different fields of public safety, social defense, and law enforcement through its four-year leadership development curriculum program that exemplify Professionalism, Administration and Governance, and Leadership as follows:

i. Professionalism. Show and develop professional competence, commitment a character in the field of public safety endeavors to become trusted and respected by the people;

ii. Administration and Governance. Enhance the administration and governance skills in the context of public safety endowed with a culture of Justice, Integrity, and Service;

iii. Leadership. Integrate different forms of leadership in the context of a servant, adaptive, changed, and bridging leadership.

In molding young individuals into refined leaders, the Professors acts as a bridge to cross from the other side of the mountain. They developed into a group of highly motivated and excellent public safety and law enforcement educational leaders with the necessary experience dedicated to the PNPA's service and the development of cadets. These professors provide unyielding effort to transform a young individual into a future leader of the nation who will soon become a part of one of the pillars of the Justice System - Law Enforcement.

Cadets are carefully crafted to produce a masterpiece, for they cannot afford to make a single mistake in enforcing the law. With one single mistake, justice may not be given to the victims, and those who seek for it, as one of the pillars failed to perform its function, can already break the justice system.

Moreover, with the initiatives and support of the Director, PNPA, to different academic plans and programs. Cadets would now participate in various activities that challenge and develop intellectual prowess, such as debates, moot court, research, and leadership congress that showcases the skills and application of knowledge gained from corners of the academy.

Such foundation inside the portals of the academy indeed produces promising and competent public safety leaders of our nation that have been built with solid blocks of knowledge, skills, and values and that are put together added by the different experiences, theories, and affairs which eventually become a tower that everyone looks-up as PNPA Cadets are the scholars for the nation that will serve and protect God, Country, and People.
